This may be towards the lower end of the Kona range but it still comes with a decent roster of kit, including an eight-inch audio touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus 17-inch alloys, cruise control, air-conditioning and rear parking sensors.

As befits 'the sporty one' the N Line features 18-inch alloy wheels and an N Line styling pack. It also comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Krell audio system and climate control. There's also a five-year subscription to Hyundai's Bluelink online services and privacy glass.

Premium models are easy to spot thanks to their large 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome grille surrounds and off-road-style body mouldings. Inside, they get Hyundai’s top-of-the-range eight-inch infotainment screen with built-in satellite navigation on top of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Premium models get the same kit as SEs – such as a handy reversing camera and electric lumbar support for the driver’s seat – and add keyless entry and a Krell sound system that’s punchier than the basic unit.

For 'Ultimate' read 'Everything we can think of', so the Kona comes with blind spot warning, electrically adjustable leather front seats that are both heated and cooled, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and electric sunroof, and the Kona can even tell you if it's safe to get out of the car or not.
