Audi Q2 interior

From its squidgy high-quality plastics to its pretty trims and crisp infotainment screens – the Audi Q2 feels like a pint-sized luxury SUV. But, it’s not cheap.

Style

The Q2's minimalist interior is well built and plush

The Audi Q2’s slick, minimalist dashboard and dashboard-mounted infotainment display have more in common with the Audi A3 hatchback than the likes of the larger Q3 SUV.

The materials you’ll find in the Audi Q2 feel just as upmarket as its hatchback sibling, too. The dashboard feels soft and it comes with neat metal-ringed air vents but there are a few cheap plastics on the glovebox lid and around the door bins.

You can tweak the cabin temperature using a bank of simple switches but most other features are controlled through the standard 7-inch infotainment screen. Thankfully, a simple rotary knob in the centre console allows you to quickly switch between menus without having to take your eyes off the road.

If you want your Audi Q2’s interior to feel a bit more sporty then choose an S line or Black Edition car. These higher-spec versions come with part leather-trimmed seats and, in Black Edition trim, a flat-bottomed steering wheel – just like Audi’s racy R8 supercar.

Infotainment

Watch our Audi Q2 interior and infotainment video review

All Audi Q2s come fitted with DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity and a 7-inch infotainment screen fitted above the dashboard as standard. Technik models miss out on satellite navigation but come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring as standard so you can use your phone’s navigation apps through the car’s built-in display instead.

The basic system covers most bases, but to really get the most out of your Audi Q2 you’ll want to upgrade to the Technology Pack. It comes with a larger 8-inch display for the dashboard and a large 12-inch Virtual Cockpit screen in place of old-fashioned dials behind the steering wheel.

The larger screen can display a range of features, from high-resolution google maps to a set of easy-to-read digital dials. It’s bright and sharp enough to be clearly visible in bright sunlight and dedicated buttons on the steering wheel make it easy to quickly configure the display exactly how you want it.

A simple control wheel on the centre console makes it easy to scroll through the various menus on the dashboard-mounted screen. It’s responsive and easy to use – you can even write letters of a postcode using your index finger on the scroll wheel’s integrated touchpad. The sat nav loads quickly and adding a waypoint to your route is a breeze, too.

In Sport guise and above, the Audi Q2’s standard stereo is loud enough to do your tunes justice but you can pay extra for two extra speakers – bringing the total to 10 – and a subwoofer for a little extra bass. Audi also offers a 705W Bang & Olufsen system with 14 speakers if you’re really serious about sound quality.
