MINI Electric interior
The usual funky MINI design and great quality apply, with some hints at pure-electric power. Some will prefer the more logical dash designs of alternatives, mind.
Style
Aside from a fluro starter button and drive selector, the only major giveaway that the MINI Electric is a bit different inside is some fantastic new digital dials. They’re almost oval in shape and have a classy matte finish, displaying your range, power use and speed and trip info clearly.
Otherwise, you get the same funky design with MINI’s trademark circular centrepiece on the dash, plus a very good fit and finish.
Level 1 models get cloth sport seats and leather sports multifunction steering wheel plus black chequered trim and grey headlining. Level 2 trim then adds leatherette sports seats, the same wheel and piano black trim with black lining.
Range-topping Level 3 cars get leather sports seats, an upgraded leather wheel, a Union Jack-style trim and black headlining.
MINI’s interiors are always distinctive, but some might find them a little busy.

Infotainment
Level 1 and Level 2 models come with a 6.5-inch colour display right in the middle of the dashboard. The touchscreen menus are easy to navigate through, but it’s even easier to use the rotary click wheel controller on the centre console.
Bluetooth connectivity is standard, but you can’t get Android Auto at all, regardless of which optional extras you pay for. If you’re an iPhone devotee, this isn’t a problem, as Apple CarPlay comes as standard. Also standard are the aforementioned digital dials, which really lift the cabin and provide genuinely clear, useful info.
Going for the range-topping Level 3 model, brings a bigger 8.8-inch screen that looks more impressive and is every bit as easy to use.
From Level 2 you also get a MINI Excitement package, meaning the central screen is surrounded by an LED ring that changes colour depending on what the system’s doing and which driving mode you’re in. It will show how much range you have left too.
The standard stereo (which includes DAB digital radio) is good, but it’s worth upgrading to the thumping Harman Kardon system on Level 2 cars, which has 12 speakers – including two bass speakers under the front seats.
