Porsche 718 Boxster interior
The Boxster’s interior feature Porsche’s typical classy touches and there’s loads of space for two people to stretch out. Storage is stingy, though, and its infotainment now feels fairly old.
Style
The Boxster’s interior is functional rather than fun, but its solid hewn-from-granite look and feel is all part of the Porsche ownership experience.
Quality is very high, with soft plastics everywhere from the top of the dash, top of the doors, central console – even the door bins and glovebox don’t feel cheap. All the switches and dials feel super solid, too.
The quality of the Boxster’s interior remains high across the range but there are subtle differences in design. The standard Boxster gets leatherette/Alcantara seats, silver trim on its dash, around its air vents and central console and a leather steering wheel and gear lever.
The S adds a silver speedometer and aluminium pedals and partial leather seats
The T swaps the silver trim for black, has black door pulls rather than metal door handles and deletes the infotainment system in the name of saving weight. Seats are leather and cloth.
The GTS adds those things back and has the silver trim, too, but adds an Alcantara steering wheel, door handles and gear lever.
It’s important to have a brilliant driving position in a sports car and the Boxster nails it. It’s low-slung, but with great visibility and loads of adjustment.

Infotainment
Every Porsche Boxster comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen. It’s quite an old system for Porsche now – cars like the Panamera, 911 and Cayenne come with a brighter, widescreen system
Sill, it isn’t bad – it’s bright and easy to read with a clear menu structure, even if some of the on-screen buttons are quite small given the screen’s modest size. That means using it while driving requires more patience and technique than you need in a BMW Z4 or Audi TT with their rotary dial systems.
As such, sticking a postcode into the system and adding waypoints isn’t too difficult, but a Z4’s system is better at routing you around traffic. Better still, just use Waze or Google Maps via smartphone mirroring – if you have an iPhone, that is.
Indeed, DAB radio, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay are all included, but there’s no Android Auto. And it’s disappointing that Porsche’s standard six-speaker stereo system sounds so modest; it’s worth investigating the optional Bose stereo for improved quality.
